At Special Support we offer a range of services to support families.

Parental Support
We can assist parents and caregivers with learning strategies to help your child at home. Suggestions can be offered to help your child in coping with anxiety, reducing challenging behaviours and in managing problems that you are experiencing. We can help you with planning programs for your child, offer help for school problems and generally support parents in improving coping skills and managing stress and burnout. Please see fees below.

Sibling Support
Having a child with a disability in the family has a great impact, not just on the parents, but also on siblings. The range of feelings experienced by siblings can be extensive and complicated. We can provide individual support, in a caring, non-judgemental environment, for siblings who are having difficulty in adjusting to, or coping with, a disability in the family.

In 2004 we will also be running Sibling Support Groups. This will be a chance for siblings to have some special time for themselves, meet other children like themselves and to learn more about coping with a disability in the family. If you are interested in a Sibling Support Group for your child, please register your interest.

Home Education Support
We can assist you with advice on the Exemption Process and help with the application process. We also offer information about resources, advice on curriculum planning and we also offer workshops for parents.

Gluten and Casein Free Diet Support
Some parents have found a Gluten and Casein free diet helpful in the behaviour of their children. To help understand this diet, we offer advice on how to start the diet, where to shop in Adelaide, recipes etc. Workshops are offered for both parents and professionals, with a quarterly newsletter, and bi-monthly support group being run. We also have the GFCF booklet for sale to help out with diet.

Payment for consultations must be made on the day by either cash or cheque. There are no EFTPOS of credit card facilities available sorry. Extra fees apply for at home visits or in school visits - please enquire about your needs. Fees subject to change without notification.
