At Special Support we offer a range of services to support
children.
Specific Strategies
This is the most intense intervention, where a child works
individually with a social skills therapist. The program is
designed according to individual need, in conjunction with
parental input. Intervention can be for a few sessions or
continue on a weekly or fortnightly basis for as long as the
need is present.
We may provide such interventions as 'Power' or 'Strength'
Cards, 'Social Stories', visual scheduling and 'Thinking Stories'
Specific Strategies Intervention may be recommended by us
if your child is not coping with a Social Skills Group, or
has specific needs which could be better addressed on an individual
basis rather than in a group. You may request this if you
feel that your child would benefit.
Specific Strategies Intervention is only available during
school hours. Sessions run for either 30 minutes for $30.00
or 45 minutes for $45.00. The initial session will run for
45 minutes, for $30.00.
Educational Support
This is provided by a Special Education teacher, registered
with DETE and experienced in working with children on thee
autism spectrum. Services are provided on a Consultancy basis
through referral from Special Support, and include:
- Tutoring
- Organising work experience and vocational
training
- In school support and advocacy
Extra fees apply for at home visits or in school visits -
please inquire about your needs. Payment for consultations
must be made on the day by either cash or cheque. There are
no EFTPOS or credit card facilities available sorry. Fees
subject to change without notification.
